How to Write an Admin Assistant Cover Letter

There is stiff competition out there with people trying to grab the job of their dreams. But, competition does not mean that you would be losing out on the race, unless you have not prepared well. After all, fortune favors the brave! You need to project your skills in the wisest and cleverest way. My e-book would soon demonstrate that the sure shot way of gaining an interview date with an employer is to have your qualities explicitly laid down in your cover letter and of course, the resume.

Can a Cover Letter work wonders?

While applying for the job of an admin assistant, you must convince your employer that you are a capable and efficient person. And how can you possibly do it without having a face to face interaction with the prospective employer? The answer is fairly simple. You can impress upon your employer with the right credentials in the cover letter and of course, the resume. These documents are the only materials that would reach the employer before you do!

The importance of an impressive cover letter can not be undermined as it is the first document that an employer reads about you and forms an early impression. As an HR consultant who has gone through more than tens and thousands of cover letters spanning 30 years, I can vouch that you are more likely to be called for an interview if the cover letter shows you in the right perspective.

So, what should be there in the Cover Letter?

If you are already having some working experience in the field of administrative assistant, then you must highlight the special skills that you have acquired owing to your experience. If this is the first time you are trying for the admin assistant job, then you must emphasize on your computer skills, communication skills as well as methodical approach to any problem. These are some of the aspects that an employer would be looking for while hiring an admin assistant.

Your cover letter must be more than just a brief introduction about your qualifications and experience. It must highlight the special skills and qualities that separate you from the rest of the crowd. At the same time, you must also emphasize how your capabilities can help in the running of the business of the prospective employer. You must convey your eagerness to meet the concerned authorities and show willingness to join them.

Remember, your cover letter must not exceed a page. Avoid repeating yourself. I have provided some sample cover letters in my e-book meant for people with no work experience, those who have some work and finally, those who desire a job change for whatever reason. Go ahead and read it…I am sure that you will find the info invaluable.
